Are men as oppressed as women on this planet?
Is circumcision “proof” of male oppression?

There seems to be a ludicrous and growing “debate” among some men that “male oppression” permeates this planet and is, in fact, just as horrible and prevalent as female oppression! The men who are saying this are generally among those who support a male “backlash” movement that is seeking to degrade and downplay the injustice of female oppression in our world. Members of this “movement” strive to divert attention away from global female oppression and focus it upon their own isolated and/or “imagined” instances of male “oppression.” They are generally self-centered men with a massive male ego, and have probably had a “bad” experience with a particular woman. These guys are “bitter” about women, and are unwilling to even attempt to grasp the depth of oppression suffered by women in our world. And needless to say, most of these men are invariably female oppressors themselves.u
I agree that men on this planet do suffer various kinds of oppression or discrimination, of course. However, they are usually among particular groups that are being discriminated against as a whole for the “usual” petty reasons such as skin color, ethnicity, culture, nationality, and so on. These “groups” of course, include both men and women as the target of discrimination and oppression. But rarely, if ever, are men singled out, discriminated against, and oppressed, just because they are men: people with a penis! But in every society on Earth, it is women who are the focal point of oppression just because they are women: people with a vagina! And it is men who discriminate against women. Even a man who is being oppressed in a “tyrannical” society, can turn around and oppress “his” woman. Many of these men have no comprehension of, nor do they care to know about, the depth of oppression universally suffered by women on this planet. Female oppression is universally recognized as existing within the realm of female sexual abuse by men. But this is far from the whole story. Female oppression comes in many other forms including, but not limited to; social, economic, domestic, religious, cultural, ethnic, racial, and physical abuse. I ask you, gentlemen, how many of you have experienced all these forms of oppression every day, every week, every month, every year, in every city, in every country on Earth throughout your entire lives? I don’t see any hands being raised! That’s because you are men, and it is men, joined by their negative male ego that generally stand united behind their oppression of women.
There is very little men can use to compare “male oppression” with female oppression. So I find it hilarious, and at the same time tragic, that these men have come to “scratch the bottom of the barrel” and begin to point to male circumcision as “proof” of male oppression. They are trying to equate male circumcision with female genital mutilation to prove they are also oppressed! This is a massive flurry motion designed to divert attention away from the real horror of female oppression that permeates our planet. This is just another way for the animal mind of the male ego to continue the domination and oppression of women behind a mask of “men are being oppressed too.” Does male circumcision really equate with female genital mutilation? Women that are forced to undergo this process are truly among the most extremely oppressed humans on our planet.
Female genital mutilation is a process by which the highly sensitive clitoris of a girl or young woman is literally, physically, and brutally cut out of her body! The clitoris is a point of female sexual “stimulation.” To cut the clitoris forever out of a female’s body is to deny her the “right” of clitoral stimulation and sexual gratification that men so readily claim for themselves! In this “man’s” world, sexual enjoyment is for the penis, not the vagina. This grotesque and tortuous process is usually done under the guise of “religious belief” when in fact it is only an expression of male domination and oppression of the female in its grossest form. These “religions”, invariably led by men, consider female sexual stimulation to be “evil” in the eyes of their “God.” The attitude in these religions is that men were meant to use women for sexual gratification and women were meant to submit to male satisfaction while never experiencing their own sexual enjoyment. I was informed by a man from a country that performs this barbaric procedure, that women are the ones who perform it. He said it as though I should be convinced that because women perform this procedure, they are in agreement with it! Nothing is farther from the truth. Men want this savage act performed on women, and if a woman refuses to perform it, I believe she would be stoned to death.
In male circumcision, the excess foreskin that covers the head of the penis is simply cut back. Unlike female mutilation which totally removes the clitoris (an organ), male circumcision DOES NOT remove any critical organ that is essential to experiencing MALE sexual pleasure. It simply removes the loose foreskin of the penis and leaves the penis intact, whole and untouched! Comparing male foreskin circumcision to female genital mutilation is an insult to every woman who has ever been, is now being, or will be mutilated in the future. I cannot comprehend how these men, supposedly in possession of rational and logical minds, can possibly “stretch” the truth to make this comparison! And as a male human being I am embarrassed and ashamed that those who promote female genital mutilation have the audacity to call it “female circumcision!” There IS NO comparison between circumcision and mutilation. This is like saying that clipping a toenail is the same thing as cutting off the entire toe! Renaming female genital mutilation as female circumcision is only meant to deflect attention from the actual horror of female genital mutilation and repaint it as a “minor” undertaking done because of “religious and/or cultural” traditions. Using “religion and culture” does not excuse the intentional and evil mutilation of a woman’s body. And even traditions, wherever they exist, must change if they are designed to continue the exploitation, domination, and oppression of women!
The totally unrelated acts of circumcision and mutilation are driven by entirely different motives. Male circumcision is done for “health” purposes. The uncircumcised, closed foreskin around the head of the penis can create an environment that breeds germs and unhealthy conditions that are detrimental to healthy sexual activity. Female mutilation is demanded out of hate for women by sanctimonious men in order to remove the female’s ability to experience sexual pleasure. I will consider female genital mutilation and male circumcision comparable when men start cutting off the entire head of the penis during circumcision. Do you think they’re going to do that? NO! Because that is where male sexual stimulation occurs. I would also consider female genital mutilation and male circumcision comparable if only the loose skin from the labia around the vagina were removed and the clitoris were left in tact. Do you think men will allow that to happen? NO! Because that is where female sexual stimulation occurs and women must not feel stimulation. So please, let’s put the fantasy of male “oppression” and the reality of female oppression in perspective.
Why don’t some of you men just stand up and speak out against female oppression and try to eradicate it from society rather than using your time and energy simply trying to claim that you are “just as oppressed?” You’re acting like a man who just caused an auto accident during which he received a superficial little cut on his finger. Now he’s standing there, looking down at this woman who has just lost her entire leg in this wreck, and as the paramedics give her necessary medical attention to save her life, he holds up his little cut finger and yells; “Hey, what about me? I’m hurt too!” Come on! Will you guys please just grow up!? “Comparing” circumcision to mutilation is pathetic!
Aside from trying to equate circumcision with mutilation, another of the main “objections” these men have about circumcision is that it supposedly “reduces” the sexual stimulation felt by the penis during intercourse. This is certainly reaching low for something to hang on to. I myself am a circumcised man and I am just fine with that! I rarely even think about it. Yes, there may be individual men who feel “less” sexual stimulation because of circumcision, but that could very well be related to psychological and/or emotional issues they may have developed about it. Physically, the overwhelming majority of circumcised men are pleased with their sexual “experiences.” And overwhelmingly, most men are circumcised. It must be noted that unless it was done during childhood, NO MAN has to be circumcised!
So, if you think you want to put any more of your time at all into this, you will find below this paragraph a link to a website you can visit and read “testimonials” from men who are, or are not, circumcised discussing their sexual experiences. You can also add your own comments. To visit the site; block the site name, copy it and past it into your address bar. I have nothing to do with, nor am I promoting this site.
As for me, I’ve put enough of my time and energy into this frivolous “issue.”

Does Circumcision Equate With Female Genital Mutilation?
I’m thrilled that Stewart took on this subject for our blog. I had been wanting to for a while… it really makes my blood boil that some would suggest that circumcision is anywhere close to female genital mutilation. But this is NOT a subject that a woman could broach, with any credibility anyway. No, a man needs to address a man’s issues; and what more “manly” issue is there than circumcision? But now that he has, I can put “my own two cents” in – hence – “post script.”
What we have here are two issues; the recent and increasingly controversial issue of circumcision, and the issue of using it as a means to marginalize the horror of female genital mutilation (FGM). First, I’m not going to deny men their concerns whatever they may be about their own bodies. Personally, at 51, I’ve never known a man who wasn’t circumcised, but if a new generation wants to use the public forum to argue the merit of circumcision and whether or not it is still a necessary procedure or if fetal circumcision is even ethical, then that’s a conversation that men (and parents) need to have.
I’m only in this conversation because some in the men’s rights activist (MRA) movement (or the “female oppression is a myth” crowd) have chosen to use this issue as yet another example why men are just as oppressed as women. Women forced to have their clitoris brutally sliced off so they will never experience clitoral orgasm is somehow the same as parent’s making the choice to have their infant son’s penis foreskin surgically pulled back so as to avoid bacterial infections?? It’s an absurd and frankly outrageous comparison, and it’s only being made to negate the torturous act of FGM, and marginalize the suffering these women (and young girls) endure at the hands of pious pigs.
This is one area that women should have nothing to do with – it’s your body so your issue. But we really don’t appreciate a small handful of men using our physical abuse and suffering in your argument against a centuries old “medical” procedure for health reasons. If you really have a good argument, then make it on its own merits, but good luck with convincing every parent on the planet that they are “mutilating” their son’s and convincing every circumcised man that he is “deformed.”
